Dr. Wenwei Xie, a traditional Chinese medical doctor had come to the United States because of our great concern over viral infections. Dr. Xie had worked on a research project concerning Herpes simplex viruses and cancer at a teaching hospital. His research showed that formulas of Chinese herbs could be very effective against viruses like Herpes simplex. However, they were unable to isolate any “active constituents” from these herbal formulas which could be turned into drugs that would be effective against herpes. So, after a couple of years they told Dr. Xie that his herb formulas worked, but since they couldn’t get any drugs out of them, they weren’t interested. They said basically, “We’re only interested in drugs; we don’t want to mess with herbs.”
I was provided at that time with a lab test which showed that Dr. Xie’s herbal formula reduced plaque counts of viral dilutions by more than 50%, with no toxicity present. According to Barb Hribar, Dr. Bruce Halstead (a noted M.D., scientist and supporter of nutritional therapy for the immune system) commented that the synergistic effect of these herbs in the human body would be expected to produce even more impressive results. It may also prove to be synergistic with other immune-enhancing herbs and nutrients.
I started lobbying the research and development department to get them to add this formula to NSP’s Chinese herb line. It took me about a year, but I finally got them to bring the formula into the NSP line. I’m glad I was persistent, because it has been an amazing formula for a wide variety of chronic viral infections.
Dr. Xie called this formula Kang Weng, which means “Anti-Febrile Evil”. It’s currently marketed under the brand name VS-C or HRP-C (in Canada). Because he could not find employment in this country, Dr. Xie was forced to return to mainland China.
Uses for VS-C
Dr. Xie said that VS-C wasn’t just for Herpes. It could be used for any infection and infectious diseases, especially those of a viral nature such as influenza, infective hepatitis or chickenpox and shingles. It is helpful for weak people who have reduced function of the immune system and have chronic flare ups of infection that produce fever, redness, skin eruptions or inflammation. It is also helpful for people who have used antibiotics for a long time without controlling their infections.
